The French philosopher, novelist, dramatist and political activist Albert Camus was the recipient of the 1957 Nobel Prize in Literature. Frida Kahlo

The surrealist painter Frida Kahlo is famous for her self-portraits and other works inspired by the nature and artefacts of her native Mexico. Inspired by the country’s popular culture, she employed a naïve folk art style to explore questions of identity, post-colonialism, gender, class and race in modern society.
